Its clear the reason Barela is peaking right now.. His putting game is finally becoming world class. He could always bomb off the tee, but drive for show putt for dough.. and he is finally getting that dough.
It’s drive for show and drive for dough on the pro tour. Most strokes gained in tournaments are off the tee. Best putter on the pro tour for a couple years in a row has been Andrew marwede. But he doesn’t have the power on a golf line that guys like Heimberg, barela, burr, and Robinson have

Wonderful to watch Anthony at his best !! I like to say "it's his time for greatness"!! It's not forever...many players in this tournament have had their moments of greatness! Everyone wants to experience it....some do. For me, an amateur player, I find great joy in ONE great shot that a professional would be happy to make!!
I've been a Barela fan for quite a while now. But there have been times where I felt he just kept choking right when he had the win, so many times and thought he just didn't have it. Man, am I glad to be proven wrong! It is so refreshing to see someone who has been throwing for so long, actually slow down, readjust his form and become the great disc golfer I always felt that he was. You can see by his more confident throw, the way he holds his follow throughs that his backhand is a huge improvement from before. His forehand is just much more accurate and his putting is pure fire. Arguable the step put is foot faulting, but all you have to do is play them back in slow motion to see that the disc leaves his hand before the front foot touches. There have been very questionable times, I won't argue, I am not a fan of the step put, especially when someone of his power could easily spin put from most distances, but as long as he stays clean, he has my vote for best. I have had my favorites in disc golf. Having been Team Trilogy for a number of years. Even then I was just a fan of disc golf so I always congratulated anyone, barring a couple players I am not fond of, because I know the sacrifice, time, effort, money, training that goes into this sport. Who is going to be the next big winner? The field is so rife with raw talent, it's unreal. But how many of them have the mindset to put it all together? Look how long it took Matty-O. Congratulations, Anthony Barela, on an incredible victory!
Perhaps reviewing grammar rules in terms of proper comma usage is in order 🤔

At one point I had dreams of going pro in real golf but didn’t happen. Thought frisbee golf was just a fun thing or something. After watching this video I now have a new respect for it. This kid is talented AF.

Don't ask someone if they're the best in the world. AB handled that loaded question with class though.
Just tell him "hey you're the best disc golfer in the world right now.. good luck tomorrow." Or even better don't mention it to him at all in the middle of a tournament and just commentate your thoughts.

From the title I thought this was a college tournament and that confused me because to my knowledge disc golf isnt a college sport
For anyone wondering, this sport is called disc golf not frisbee golf (that's a common mistake with outsiders who don't play disc golf). It is called that because the "frisbee" is shaped more like a disc than a frisbee. If you look at it, you can see that it is way smaller than your average frisbee. It also goes way longer than a frisbee
It was originally called Frisbee golf as the sport was developed by Ed Headrick, the designer of the modern Frisbee, when he worked for Wham-O. The goal was to expand the market for the Frisbee. After leaving the company in 1975, he changed the name to disc golf to avoid conflicts since Wham-O owns the trademark to the name Frisbee. The Professional Disc Golf Association was founded in 1976. The first disc designed for the sport was patented in 1983 and is now known as the Innova Aero.

And yes he is the highest rated player of 2024. And all my friends hate him because of his antics. And yes he would destroy me in a round. But at least I'm not whiny or scrawny or a prick.
